Galveston, Texas

University of Texas Medical BranchBDMI has provided MEP consulting services on two vivarium projects for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

The first project consisted of an addition of approximately 35,000 square feet of laboratory space to the Animal Research Facility. The vivarium portion of the project consisted of a 3,000 square foot animal holding area containing 15 cage rooms, cage wash facilities, feed rooms and supporting administrative suite.

The second project consisted of the adaptive reuse of approximately 3,300 square feet in the Surgical Research Building to provide space for eight large animal holding rooms including a special bovine room of approximately 1,900 square feet. The existing MEP infrastructure systems were modified to bring the space up to current code requirements.
