Thermal Energy Utilities Provider Central Plant Chiller AdditionFor this project BDMI acted as prime consultant to the owner, and engaged the services of the architectural, structural, civil and other design professionals.

This project consisted of the design and construction of a new 7,500 ton, 6,000 horsepower water cooled chiller, 12,000 ton cooling tower with two 18,500 gallon per minute, 900 horsepower condenser water pumps, a 22,500 gallon per minute, 1250 horsepower chilled water pump and 10,000 square foot 2 story building addition. This was added to the existing 50,000 ton main central plant which serves approximately seventy-five percent of the Houston area Texas Medical Center Complex.

At the time, the new chiller was the largest single chiller operating in the United States with a capacity of 10,000 tons during single pass cold weather operation.
