Satellite Utility Plant for University CampusFor this project BDMI acted as prime consultant to the owner, and engaged the services of the architectural, structural, civil and other design professionals.

This project consisted of design and construction of a new 4,400 ton central plant. The 16,000 square foot plant houses three 1,100 ton chillers, a four cell masonry shell cooling tower, two 8.4 million BTUH domestic hot water generators and auxiliary equipment.

Space was provided for an additional 1,100 ton chiller and a high temperature heating hot water boiler. An automation system was installed to allow operation of the satellite plant remotely from the main plant. The project included 2,100 linear feet of chilled water and hot water distribution system extensions to close loops on the south side of the campus.
