Rice University, Houston, Texas
Recently completed, the project consists of the addition of a new
student residence facility (Martel College) and the renovation of two adjacent
existing residence facilities, to be accomplished in five phases. Martel College
will be the newest of nine residential dormitories on the Rice campus. The
new 125,000 square foot 4 story facility will provide housing for approximately
230 students, and will include a student lounge and the Martel Commons area.
A new kitchen and servery will accommodate the Martel, Jones and Brown Commons.
The
4 story Jones College addition will
connect Jones South and Jones North,
and will provide space for the Jones
Commons on the ground floor, and
residential space for approximately
40 students. The 4 story Brown College
addition will provide residential
space for approximately 60 students,
a new student lounge and classroom
areas, and the Brown Commons.
The
scope of the entire project is approximately
200,000 square feet with a total
construction cost approaching 35
Million Dollars.
