Commissioning

construction projectCommissioning is the systematic approach to test and document a project to ensure that specific building systems perform independently as well as interactively as designed and specified.  BDMI has over 10 years of experience providing MEP commissioning services. Beginning in 1998 with the first commissioning projects executed, our personnel have commissioned over 1,000,000 square feet including the following facility types:

  • Corporate Data Centers
  • Office Buildings*
  • Tenant Improvement*
  • Higher Education*
  • Central Utility Plants*

*Includes LEED Projects

The commissioning process facilitates the implementation of the owner’s project requirements defined by the design basis documents and specifications and verifies they have been achieved during construction. Commissioning helps verify these project requirements are sustainable over the life of the facility through testing, training, systems manuals, and warranties.

Commissioning should begin early in the design phase with the review of the project plans and specifications to ascertain the design intent as well as constructability and maintainability.  This process continues throughout construction with submittal reviews and verification of proper systems installation and functional performance.

Successfully executing the client’s commissioning vision requires the expertise, knowledge, and depth of the BDMI team.
